About a band

So there's this band that made a strawberry milkshake on stage during a song, turned the stage into a zombie spa for one of their shows, and plays jazz/swing versions of their electric songs for acoustic sets. I think they were called Genoa...no, Genevapop!

Genevapop started in Fall of 2009 as a 5 piece band from San Francisco. Our influences range from indie rock, post punk and dreampop to jazz. We like to keep our beats sharp, bass notes high, guitars trebly, keyboards dreamy, vocals dissolved and audience guessing.

Meet the Band

An Architect by education but Drummer by vocation, Chris Korbuly's midwesterner indie sensibility meets a certain revolution only a first generation Hungarian could possess. Call it intuition, or an extraordinary creative process, Patrick Youtz has just the right phrase to give our music that 80's alternative shimmer. While Teddy Hose's style and instrumentation brings rhythmic diversity to our work, the melancholy ring to his solos and shoegaze walls of sound could only come from rainy Seattle or the quiet woods of New York. Chris Strunk is well versed in bass lines with impact via Simon Gallup and Peter Hook, while managing the business end of the band by day, having passed the bar with flying colors. Aish's ultra-multicultural musical sensibility, rooted in Jazz, Punk, Britpop and Hindustani, is only the icing on the cake. Genevapop has played venues such as Red Devil Lounge, Hotel Utah, and the recently closed Kimo's and Annie's Social Club. While we take our music seriously, we are devoted to performing an exceptional live show, which you'll just have to see for yourself.
